David has worked extensively across the public-school sector in roles as diverse as teacher, principal, Regional Manager, Director of Schools and Assistant Executive Director of Student Behaviour and Wellbeing. He has also held positions in policy development and coordination in the areas of Aboriginal education and training, rural and remote education, and the development of cross-sectoral education partnerships. He has a long involvement in organisational performance monitoring and review and has worked closely with major international consultancies on a range of projects.

Most recently, David led the introduction and consolidation of school autonomy across the state and, as Director of Leadership, Innovation and Strategy, was responsible for the development and implementation of the WA public school leadership strategy. Since 2016, he has led an innovative leadership development program in partnership with Harvard University. He is currently working with the Public Sector Commission on whole-of-government leadership strategy.

David is a published author and a recognised public speaker and facilitator. His international experience includes community development in Cambodia, a Churchill Fellowship in the United States and the quality assurance of an International School in Indonesia.
