Phil’s deep knowledge and understanding of the complexities of leadership is gained from 23 years of diverse and successful experience as a principal of four schools. His school-based leadership has been interspersed with experience in system-wide leadership coaching and school improvement roles, and a mid-career sabbatical in an executive leadership role in private industry.

Phil’s work at system-level includes various Bastow/Academy programs, supporting aspiring principals in the VAPA and Unlocking Potential programs, as well as current leaders in the Mentoring & Coaching programs. He is also an accredited Professional Learning Communities (PLC) workshop facilitator.

As a coach and mentor, Phil’s focus is firmly on supporting school leaders to strategically maintain a healthy balance between life and work as they strive to improve themselves and their schools.

Phil was awarded Life Membership of the Victorian Principals Association in 2017. He is an accredited Growth Coaching International coach and holds a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching (Primary), both at Monash University (Frankston).
